| The Moose is the largest animal of the forest, weighing up to 1,200 pounds or more and existing solely on vegetation. Clearly an example of the power the Creator bestowed on the four-leggeds, It has long been a symbol of self-esteem and the balance between gentleness and strength. Its magnificent antlers, spreading up to 6 1/2 feet across, are shed and regrown every year. Used as weapons they are a sign of dominance which the "shows off" to rivals by lowering its head and rocking it side to side in wide arcs. Early cultures used rings of antler to cure headaches. Long associated with fertility, antlers are still ground up and used as aphrodisiacs in some cultures today. The continued survival of the Wolf population is closely tied to that of the Moose. Native cultures believe that, if Man and Wolf showed respect to the Moose, the Moose would grant them success in the hunt. Jacquard woven of 100% virgin wool. Finished at 50" x 72" at 2.7 lbs. with whipstitched edges. Designed by Laurie Jacobi. Dry cleaning recommended. |
